NOVÉ MLÝNY

NOVÉ MLÝNY

The Waterworks of Nové Mlýny (VDNM) is a cascade of three dam reservoirs on the Dyje river under the Pavlovské Hills in the south of Moravia, at the border between Břeclav and Brno-venkov. It is called by the settlement of the same name under the last dike. Tanks were built in the 1970s and 1980s to prevent annual flooding and increase the intensity of agricultural production. The main reason for the construction was the plans of the socialist economy for extensive irrigation systems.

pohansko

pohansko

Pohansko u Břeclavi is an extensive 9th-century fortified settlement in the Great Moravia (a total area of up to 55 hectares) built on the banks of the Dyje River (at that time flowing eastwards than today's river). The grounds of the fortification are protected as a cultural monument of the Czech republic.

The fortress was fortified with a shell wall with a front stone plank and a branch of the river Dyje. The great moravian period also includes an intensely populated prehistoric dwelling with workshops and burial grounds along the southwest valley of its own castle.
